DELHI: The modern capital of India is also an ancient city whose origins are lost in legend. Hundreds of monuments adorn it, with its carved and millenary history. JAIPUR: The pink city of Rajasthan. Jaipur is perhaps one of the most picturesque cities in the world. It was built according to the canons of the Shilpa Shastra, the ancient Hindu treatise on architecture. Divided into seven rectangular sectors, with well-laid streets, right angles, its planning is a marvel of eighteenth-century urban planning, when even in Europe there was no similar systematization. Surrounded by steep hills at three of its heart points, the city is guarded by a powerful fortified wall, with seven gates.
