A trip to SOUTH India TO KNOW Dravidian culture and architecture

DAY 01 – AMERICA – EUROPE – CHENNAI (MADRAS)

Arrival in Chennai, capital of Tamil Nadu and one of the four great cities of India. Arrival and accommodation.

Day 02 – IN CHENNAI

Breakfast. Visit the Temple of Kapaleeshwarar, (thirteenth century), dedicated to Shiva, the Fort of St. George, the current seat of government, the museum where they are located souvenirs of the British era, the Basilica of St. Thomas at Mylapore, presumably built over the tomb of the Apostle and which houses the relics of the saint and the Paseo Marina. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 03 – CHENNAI – Kanchipuram – MAHABALIPURAM

Breakfast. Departure to Kanchipuram, "City of 1000 Temples". Among its temples include Kailasanatha and Ekambaneshwaram, Kamaskhi and Vaikunthaperumal, all built between the 7th and 8th centuries. DAY 04 – MAHABALIPURAM – Pondicherry – TANJORE

DAY 05 – TANJORE – Darasuram – TRICHY

Breakfast. We will visit Darasuram, temple built by the Raja Chola II of the twelfth century, a classic example of Chola architecture; the Temple of Arravatesvara, from the twelfth century, visit of the Temple of Brihadeeshwarar, considered the most perfect Dravid temple. Continue to Trichy. Dinner and accommodation.

DAY 06 – TRICHY – Chettinad – MADURAI (PC)

Breakfast. Exit by road to Madurai, ancient capital of the Pandyas, and pilgrimage center and learning for centuries.

We will visit the town of Chettinad famous for its old mansions. We will have lunch here in a restaurant that offers typical food from this region.

We will continue by road to Madurai. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 07 – IN MADURAI

Breakfast. By In the morning, we will visit the flower market, then visit the city, highlighting the Meenakshi Temple, built by the Nayak Tirumalai, the Tirumalai Nayak Palace and the Tiruparankidram Temple, which has a huge façade with blue and yellow dragons. In the evening, we will see a Interesting ceremony that takes place in the temple, where the priests walk to the god and celebrate their rites accompanied by musicians. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 08 – MADURAI – PERIYAR

Breakfast. Departure by road to Kumarakom, we will take a ride in boat on Lake Periyar. Free time to enjoy the landscapes. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 09 – PERIYAR – Alleppey – COCHIN

Breakfast. Departure by road to Alleppy, in On the way we will visit a tea and/or cardamom plantation. In Aleppy we will take a small boat to ride on the lake and see the Backwaters canals from near.

We will continue by road to Cochin. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 10 – IN COCHIN

Breakfast. City tour with the old Synagogue Built in 1568, we will see fishermen with the famous fishing nets of Chinese-type, St. Francis Church where Vasco da Gama was buried, the Dutch Palace and We will walk through the streets of the old Cochin, full of colonial flavor. We will attend Kathakali Regional Dance at a local theater. Dinner and overnight.

DAY 11 – COCHIN – EUROPE / AMERICA

Breakfast. According to the schedule of flight. Transfer to the airport.
